01 Hoopla 7/3/18
Hi Everyone,
TONS of info for you this week! Please read carefully:
From B.O./H.R.:
- New Employee website password for July: SwelteringJuly2018!
- Current pay period ends Sunday, July 8th. Please approve your time cards by the end of the day Monday, July 9th. Please be reminded that hours you earned for the staff retreat days will be submitted by our Timekeeper.
- With the recent legalization of marijuana in the state of Vermont, please note that our drug-free workplace policy (attached- taken from pp. 29 & 30 of our employee policy manual) does not change. Staff are not permitted to come to work under the influence. Any questions or concerns should be brought to the attention of the Area Director.
- Please do NOT use the sdreceptionist e-mail for any correspondence. Any business related questions or hoopla responses should be sent to businessofficeadmin@sdplus.org. The sdreceptionist e-mail is only used for sending out the hooplas.
Around the Office:
- We are missing a very important ring of keys that are stored inside the key box of the locked closet downstairs. If you should have them, or know where they are, PLEASE return them to the B.O. asap.
- We are low on silverware again in both kitchens. In May we fully restocked the silverware which can only mean that staff are misplacing or taking it home by accident. Please check your silverware trays at home and return any that might belong to Sd at your earliest convenience.
- If you should happen to be the one replacing toner or the waste toner box to the copier behind the front desk, please let the B.O. know so that we can re-order. Also, if you happen to be the one to accept the W.B. Mason order when it arrives (usually on Wednesdays) please check to see if there are cartridges for the driver to pick up for recycling (sitting in a box to the left of the front desk).
- Office Hours: We are doing office hours a bit differently this year. You will be scheduled for office hrs and will be getting your individual schedules. These schedules will go out on Thursday, 7/5. When you receive your schedule, please let your PSI know by the end of the day Friday, 7/6 if there are any office hours you wish to opt out of. After Friday, 7/6, scheduled office hours will be mandatory and will require the use of PTO if missed.
If the individual schedule says C – meet at the time scheduled in the conference room, if it says L –
Library – if it says PSI – check in with your PSI. If it says S – it means you will be doing SUPPORT
training Refresher. If that still does not give you 36 hrs you can supplement at the beginning or end
of your shift and remember you can always supplement with PTO if you want.
If you have any questions about this, please e-mail your PSI (NOT the Sd receptionist e-mail).
- Life guard – Please remember clients are not to swim without a life guard present. There has been some additional circumstance through school programs that we have been able to use community pools, this needs to be approved by BA and myself.
- SUPPORT Refreshers– We are scheduling SUPPORT refreshers for all staff this July and August. July and August will be all BIS not hired in the last 2 months . In July we will get PSI and ABCs also and August BAs . The Scheduler or Derek will send out to PSI and ABCs who is scheduled when. It is important that you make these, if you are scheduled or have PTO please see if you can switch spot with someone. BIs your SUPPORT time will be on your individual schedule. Some People will be doing it in 2 parts on different days, so please pay attention to that as listed.
Staff Retreat Thank Yous:
- Thanks to the Retreat Committee for their fine work in putting together a special day for us on Friday! Special thanks to Anthony Carace and Mariah Charbonneau for all their behind-the-scenes work to make it fun for everyone!
- Reading the letters from families is always a highlight of our day together! If you should see family members who submitted letters, please be sure to thank them for taking the time to write these letters of appreciation.
- If you have photos from the staff retreat that you would like to share with the greater staff (choose your best 3) please submit them to businessofficeadmin@sdplus.org. If your submission includes a team photo, please include your team name.
A note from Sarah Lipton from Thursday’s staff retreat in Stowe:
Thank you for taking the time for the staff leadership training retreat with Sarah Lipton of The Presence Point on Thursday. We developed the skills of presencing and attending and began using a one-word check-in that we can use to begin a meeting so everyone in the room can pause and show up as they are. We brought forward some elements of team building and connecting – perhaps you will start using a head-nod to recognize and acknowledge one another in the hallway between meetings. We also investigated how we sit with discomfort, and what it’s like to show up anyway and be on the spot. We also spent time unpacking ways to develop resources to support your leadership journey.
To further support that resource development, Sarah wanted to send along another article for you to read: Self-Aware Leadership. Sarah looks forward to meeting with you in smaller groups starting in July to bring forward the development of these tools.
Have a safe and fun holiday tomorrow! Stay cool!
Smiles,
Lesha 8-)
