RE: COVID-19 Tuesday Afternoon Update
Hello SD Staff,
Thank you so much for continuing to be flexible, thoughtful and patient during this time. There are changes and new information released every day that require constant attention and adjustment.
We have received further guidance from the Government regarding the Extended Family and Medical Leave and the Paid Sick Leave in response to COVID-19, which go into effect April 1st, 2020, this is a bit different than last week as it has changed from April 2nd to April 1, 2020. Here is a break down of both the Extended Family and Medical Leave and the Paid Sick Leave (click here)
This link from the department of labor helps answer questions you may have.

Also, please see the new DOL poster about these new changes and employee rights (link here).
Please understand this is a new process for all of us and we are still awaiting the release of forms for proper documentation. We ask that you continue to be patient with us as we process any of your requests and know that if you are eligible, your leave request will be dated back to April 1st even if the paperwork takes more time to complete.
We have had several requests for leave of absences. Please be reminded that during a leave of absence no benefits (PTO, insurance..) are accrued. We would recommend if you do not qualify for the above leaves, do not have accrued PTO to take time off, and would like to consider some time off we will consider a request for unpaid time for anything less than a month, approval of unpaid time off will be done by your supervisor and the director and will be based on the “need” of the company at this time. During unpaid time off PTO is still accrued and insurance benefits continue with the understanding that the employee is responsible for paying their deductions.
Be Well!
